I never would have thought that media can be considered so many things. We are surrounded by media and use it every day. Whether that is with the radio, TV, podcast, social media, news and many more. The more I look at it the more I see that we are influence by media. Kids these days are growing up with media and honestly that's all they see. When I see my nephews I see them either attached to the TV or to a mobile device. It can even get to the point where they don't want to go outside and play anymore. They would choose to stay inside then to go outside and play with bikes or with friends. I even notice that they seem to be more isolated. When it comes to my whole family, I realize that there isn't that much talking. They are all attached to some type of media. My siblings are on their phones not talking to one another. It is so crazy how we are so attached to our phones. I know I am guilty of not being able to spend a day without my phone. I think it is very important for us to sometimes detach ourselves from our phones and take a look around. We should really enjoy the moment and take it all in. Especially when it comes to being with family and friends. There are times when I go out and I see friends or families having lunch and most of them are on their phones. I think it is crazy since there isn’t any communication between them. I am not saying that phones are bad because they do help us out in many things. What I am saying is that it is important that we limit ourselves to the usage of phones. There is a time and place to use them. I feel like when it come to spending time with our family or friends we should put them away. When we are not doing anything then that is when it is appropriate to use them. Hashtags are a big thing in the media community especially in social media. I know I have used them a couple of times. They can be used to describe a picture, express a feeling or even express a topic. I know I love them because if I wish to look something up on Instagram or Facebook it is easy to find. For example if I want to watch funny videos on Instagram all I have to do is search #funnyvideos. It’s just very easy to look up things that are an interest to you. Whether that is music, TV shows, movies, brands, people, trend, favorite word or even organizations. There is a hashtag on mostly anything you can think of. Although there are some people that over use it there are others that actually use it for a good cause. Hashtags can be used to show awareness of serious issues. What is capitalism? Capitalism is, “an economic system characterized by private or corporate ownership of capital goods, by investments that are determined by private decision, and by prices, production, and the distribution of goods that are determined mainly by competition in a free market”.  As I watched the video Capitalism A Love Story it made me wonder lots of things. Capitalism did very bad things. In the video it showed how companies were allowed to do thing without even getting into trouble. I think it's sad to hear how people aren’t able to do anything about these situations. Volunteering is such an amazing experience. You get to meet new people and help them out. I volunteer at Banner Estrella and I have loved being their. There are many nice nurses and staff that work there and have been very nice and appreciative. Volunteering is a great way to get started at a hospital. If someone wishes to work as a CNA, nurse, or even as a doctor it is great way to gain some experience. When volunteering it is good to see what it is like to work there without actually having a job there. You can also begin to pick up on some of the things that CNAs or even nurses do. They also love to teach when ever they are not too busy. Which can be beneficial for someone who wishes to go into a CNA program or even into Nursing school. Volunteering at a hospital does not necessarily mean that you want to become a CNA, nurse or a doctor. There are many things that you can gain from volunteering. I think it is very important to be able to go to school. I know for my parents it was a dream for all their kids to be able to go to a college and university and be able to graduate. Although my brothers did not go to college my sister did. My parents were never offered the opportunity to go to college or a university. School was not a main priority for them. For them and their families they had to go to work at such a young age. My parents explain how their future could have been different if they would have gone to school. That is why they have such high hopes for us to have an education and have a job that we truly love. They do not want us to struggle as they did as they were kids working in the farm and in the fields. I truly believe that education is key. Since my parents have worked so hard I do wish to do my best to provide a better future for myself and for them.
